Located directly to the paths of the Long Mynd – a superb little campsite with exceptionally clean facilities. Good food and pubs nearby.
An easy 3 mile walk around Thorpe Cloud. If you are feeling fit the walk could be extended to the top.
Pub at the car park at start and finish and an ice cream shop in a car park behind Thorpe Cloud.
About a 5 mile walk with pub on route and tea rooms at the priory ruins with some lovely home made cakes – highly recommended.
A cold walk but stunning views from the ridge towards Kinder Scout / Edale one side and over Castleton the other.
There are several types around Southport, one of them the Malvern cycle route initially following the coast north then returning through the town on allocated cycle lanes or quiet side roads. All well sign posted routes making a good day out covering up to 10 miles.
The Trans Pennine Trail starts/finishes from Southport.
An interesting visit is to the church with a crooked site. The site was added 700 years ago and still moving with some interesting stories that go with it. Costs £4 each and def worth it – you need a head for heights to go outside at the base of the Tower – which is optional.
